Poor Little Blue Tit, How did you get so Bald?

I spotted a bald blue tit the other day. Apparently this baldness problem is a result of a mite infestation, resulting in mass feather loss for the poor little birds. The resulting look is decidedly punky post-apocalyptic. This problem is apparently quite common among birds however – these suffering unfortunates usually make a full recovery and their feathers return to their former glory.
