Cows

The ultimate farm animal, the cow or Bos Taurus is bred primarily for its meat and milk, and as a beast of burden (known as an ox or oxen), pulling carts and farm machinery. They are the earliest known domesticated animal with evidence showing the cow being used for farming practices in Africa some 10000 years ago.

There are over 800 breeds of cattle across the world, such as the British Friesian (the classic black and white spotted cow seen in children’s books and the worlds highest production animal), the Akaushi or Red Cow (one of four Kobe breeds used to make the luxurious marbled beef) and Brown Swiss (the hardy alpine cow).
